
Sydney Mike-Mayer is pursuing a Master of Public Affairs at the LBJ School of Public Affairs and is an Oversight Specialist with the Prison and Jail Innovation Lab, where she updates profiles of correctional oversight bodies for the NRCCO website and develops materials synthesizing new legislation and emerging trends in prison oversight. Prior to graduate school, Sydney worked as a researcher for the Texas House Research Organization, where she analyzed legislation and drafted nonpartisan bill analyses for members of the Texas House of Representatives. She also served as the Policy Coordinator at Texas Advocacy Project, a statewide civil legal and social services nonprofit, where she established the organization’s public policy arm and led legislative initiatives to strengthen protections for survivors of power-based abuse. Sydney graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2019 with a B.A. in Government, a minor in Philosophy, and a Business Foundations certificate.
